Overview

Quesadillas de Lupita is a beloved culinary gem nestled in Diamantinos, Issfam, within the bustling neighborhood of Tlalpan, Mexico City. For over three decades, this family-run spot has crafted authentic Mexican antojitos, earning a devoted following that speaks to its consistent quality and heartfelt flavors. Its main draw, the quesadillas, are generously filled with traditional ingredients like cheese and mushrooms, delivering a rich, satisfying taste that transcends borders — as one visitor from Vienna remarked, he would return to Mexico just for the joy of savoring them.

Beyond quesadillas, the menu offers a variety of guisos and the much-praised sope de queso, showcasing traditional textures and bold flavors that reflect the heart of Mexican street cuisine. The savory guisados and sopes capture the essence of home-style cooking with each bite, balanced by the vibrant and sometimes fiery salsas that bring depth and character to every dish.

The experience here is informal yet warm, no formal dining room but a lively atmosphere that focuses on efficient, friendly service. Regulars highlight the quick turnaround despite occasional busy waits, especially on weekends, affirming the spot as a perfect choice for breakfast or lunch. The nearby carnitas stand adds a complementary dimension to the meal, making the locale a microcosm of Mexico’s culinary diversity.

Quesadillas de Lupita caters to a wide audience, from longtime locals who cherish its nostalgic flavors to travelers seeking a taste of authentic Mexico City street food. The combination of time-honored recipes, family tradition, and vibrant neighborhood setting delivers more than just a meal — it offers a genuine cultural experience.

20 years eating there and their quality refuses to wane. Brought some dude from Vienna and he claims he'd come back to México just to have a cheese and mushrooms Quesadilla and die a happy man.
